There are two predominant keys to generating excitement and maximizing participation in this process: creating awareness and having comprehensive participant data.
Event participants need to be aware that the opportunity to purchase photos will be provided to them. To accomplish this we recommend listing it on any handouts/event materials that are provided, in any e-mails that are distributed prior to the event, on websites and any other advertising outlets. Once the athletes are aware that photos will be taken, they’ll be looking for notifications of when/how they can be purchased.
Our software systems enable us to key specific images to specific individuals using BIB/registration numbers. By doing this, event participants need only come to our website and enter this number to view their specific images. It couldn’t be easier! They’re notified that images are available to view and purchase, and how to access them, via e-mail; so having a database of participant e-mail addresses is essential for success. For those of you who have your participants register electronically, this should be a snap. Those of you still doing race-day registrations or accepting hard-copies should make sure to include e-mail address as a required field. |
